"Taken? Where, Lord? ...Wheresoever the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together."

And they answered and said unto him, “Taken...? Where? Where are they taken, Lord?” And he said unto them, ”Wheresoever the body (carcase) is, there will the eagles (vultures) be gathered together.”

Our life in him wrapped in his swaddling bands
Lying in his manger: the food of beasts:
Bound tight in him where he is
A stone of stumbling, a rock of offence
A gin and a snare
Where we are bound and caught up in him
Stumbled and fallen
Broken and snared
And, there, taken . . .
TAKEN!
Where the eagles (vultures) be gathered together
Where his dead body is
Where dying in him, our earthly life
Is consumed: eaten away: the body picked clean
By vultures: by trial, difficulty and suffering
We who are the food and prey of darkness
The place of the light of life... and joy unspeakable

“Behold, this child is set for the fall
And rising again of many in Israel
And for a sign which shall be spoken against”

 (Luke 17: 33 - 37 / Matthew 24: 28)
