Our life in him wrapped in his swaddling
bands
Lying in his manger: the food of beasts:
Bound tight in him where he is
A stone of stumbling, a rock of offence
A gin and a snare
Where we are bound and caught up in him
Stumbled and fallen
Broken and snared
And, there, taken . . .
TAKEN!
Where the eagles (vultures) be
gathered together
Where his dead body is
Where dying in him, our earthly life
Is consumed: eaten away: the body picked
clean
By vultures: by trial, difficulty and
suffering
We who are the food and prey of
darkness
The place of the light of life... and joy unspeakable
